The source said, “The accident happened about 8am at Onipanu Bus stop. Apparently the bus driver was speeding and he hit a culvert. This is what caused the accident.
“A woman died on the spot and two pupils who were on their way to school are currently in coma at the Lagos State Accident and Emergency Centre. The bus driver ran away in order to avoid being arrested or lynched by an angry mob.”
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Joe Offor, confirmed the incident, stating that the police were making efforts to arrest the bus driver and his conductor.
Offor said, “It is true that an accident happened around Onipanu Bus Stop. What happened was that the tyre of the vehicle burst while the driver was speeding. The bus somersaulted for many times before it finally stopped. According to our report, only one person died and the family has asked that we release the corpse.
“Most of those who sustained injuries were sent to the emergency clinic around Ketu, but their families have gone to get them.
“The bus has been impounded at the Onikan Police Station and we are making efforts to arrest the bus driver and conductor.”
