The “honourable” senator made his intentions known on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 in no other place than the “hallowed” senate chamber.
Mrs Tinubu’s error was that she disagreed with calls for President Muhammadu Buhari’s impeachment due to forgery charges against Senate President, Bukola Saraki and his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu.
“Look
this is not Bourdillon (where Mrs Tinubu’s husband, APC National
Leader, Bola Tinubu, lives). I will beat you up...impregnate you and
nothing will happen,” Melaye said.
Dino also
used the F word in addressing Mrs Tinubu and later said he would not
want to be with her ‘because it would be like being with a dried-up
Bonga (dry fish).’
“I would rather be with a more robust and beautiful woman like Stella Oduah,” Melaye said.
Despite
the outrage caused by his comments, Dino Melaye has refused to
apologize and has instead added insult to injury by saying that Mrs
Tinubu can’t get pregnant because she has crossed the age of menopause.
“It is not biologically correct for me to impregnate her because she has attained menopause,” Melaye said today, July 14, while addressing journalists at the Senate.
Dino Melaye has never been known to have good manners, but these comments are too disgusting for words.
How
can a lawmaker speak about women, his colleagues for that matter, with
such disdain? Where did Nigeria go wrong and how did such an offensive
fellow end up in our legislature?
Dino’s comments
show that he has probably been fantasizing about his colleagues and
sizing them up sexually. His threat to beat up Remi Tinubu also confirms
previous allegations of domestic abuse against him.
In
developed countries, Dino Melaye’s comments would earn him sexual
harassment, and even assault charges, but this is Nigeria, senators are
untouchable here.
How can Nigerians expect such a
person to make laws to benefit the country? Dino Melaye belongs in a
garage and even that place would be too good for him.
It’s
unfortunate that the likes of Dino Melaye are allowed to represent the
hardworking people of this country, but this outburst should serve as a
lesson to Nigerians on who to vote and who not to even consider during
the 2019 elections.
It’s also disheartening that
Saraki has not deemed it fit to investigate the incident or even issue
an apology on behalf of his unrepentant disciple.
One
can only hope, that Nigeria will soon boast of legislators who are
worthy of the title and who will prove themselves truly deserving of the
term “Honourable”.
